Details: Responsible for supporting the plant operations department in the area of Quality Assurance, Quality Control and Food Safety. Develop and oversee implementation of food safety and monitoring programs. Provide leadership, direction, and guidance to the plant Lab Department, management team and plant personnel by understanding regulatory, customer and internal Saputo quality requirements. Schedule and supervise Laboratory Technicians and all related job functions. Oversee quality assurance systems in order to satisfy internal and customer requirements to include process evaluation and product protection programs; process specifications and standards; sanitation programs, HACCP, GMP, Pest Control, in-line sampling programs, etc.; production labeling; and product storage and distribution. Oversee quality control systems to include hold programs and mock recalls; lab procedures; food safety programs; product functionality evaluations; process verification programs; internal and external audits, and environmental microbiological monitoring programs. Lead problem-solving efforts through the facilitation of team meetings and on-the-floor leadership to effectively influence positive change and continuous improvement. Review and maintain all quality control test results. Evaluate analytical testing results and disposition of finished product to ensure customer specifications are met. Investigate, track and respond to customer complaints and returns. Develop and monitor standard operating procedures (SOP’s) as they pertain to lab and milk receiving positions and product quality. Conduct all quality training to include GMP, SQF, HACCP, Allergen, etc. Monitor compliance to QA Standards Manual as assigned (i.e. Incoming Ingredient Program, etc.). Monitor and maintain the Positive Release Program. Update required reports as frequency requires (i.e. on product quality, environmental results, incident activities, etc.). Ensure certification of the lab by maintaining proper documentation as per all internal and governmental requirements (i.e. antibiotic records, equipment temperatures, water and air, proper sterilization records, etc.) Act as plant SQF practioner. Act a plant liaison for regulatory compliance agencies (i.e. WDA, USDA, FDA, etc.) and primary plant contact for third party customer/plant audits. Order and maintain the inventory of all lab supplies and submit monthly purchase requisitions as necessary. Assist in development of plant’s lab annual budget. Monitor and control costs in comparison to budgetary objectives. Administer the collective bargaining agreement, and company policies and procedures, with the assistance of Human Resources. Communicate and interact effectively with lab personnel, all departments, sister plants and all levels of management to ensure the smooth operation of the process. Communicate and interact frequently with the Corporate QA Team on implementation and maintenance of quality systems and programs, and proactively satisfy customer requirements. Perform miscellaneous duties and responsibilities as deemed appropriate and necessary.
